We’re off to a wonderful start this September! It’s exciting to see the students reconnect with friends, dive into learning, and settle into classroom routines. Thank you for your partnership in making the transition smooth and successful. Please do not forget to connect with the teacher about your child’s recent assessments. We want to work together to ensure every student is at or above grade level this year.
Teachers have been busy building strong foundations—establishing expectations, launching academic routines, and fostering a sense of belonging. From literacy centers to math skills, students are already showing curiosity, confidence, and collaboration. Ask your child what they’ve enjoyed most so far! Another area we continue to work on is strengthening classroom community through social-emotional learning. Please continue to help us talk to your children about making good decisions and talking to their teachers about things that matter to them.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation during arrival and dismissal. Please continue to follow staff directions, stay in your vehicle during car line, and avoid early pickups unless necessary. Schedule vacations when school is NOT in session. Safety and efficiency are our top priorities.
As a reminder, each Friday is Spirit Day. Wear your school colors/school shirts!
It is also important to stay connected. If you haven’t already, be sure to follow us by downloading the Parent Square APP and check your child’s planner daily/Canvas for updates and Skyward for your child’s grades. Communication is key, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.
Finally, thanks to all who volunteered and attended Grandparent Game Night! What an amazing evening!
Thank you for being part of our school family. We’re looking forward to a joyful and productive month ahead!
Best Regards,
Dr. Angela Murphy-Osborne
Principal

The School Board of Orange County, Florida (Board) Policy JIC, titled “Code of Student Conduct,” in addition to Section 1006.07, Florida Statutes, requires the adoption of a Code of Student Conduct (Code). Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) has developed the Code to help students, parents/guardians, and school personnel understand the guidelines for maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment. The Code shall be discussed with students, school advisory committees, and parent/teacher associations at the beginning of each school year and quarterly thereafter and for transferring students upon their enrollment.
An electronic copy of the Code can be found online at the District website, on the OCPS app, or on OCPS school-issued devices.

Student classes have been visiting the media center. Grades K-2 has listened to the story The Book that Jake Borrowed by Susan Holt Kralovansky. We learned how to take care of our library books and use our school library. In Grades 3-5, we reviewed the sections of the library, procedures in the media center, and finding just right books.

Accelerated Reader is a digital program that helps students and teachers manage and monitor independent reading practice in both English and Spanish. Students pick a book at their level and read it at their own pace. When students finish the book, they take a short quiz on a computer/device to check their understanding. As students read and take quizzes, they earn points and track their progress toward their individualized Accelerated Reader goals.
All students in K-5 have the ability to use AR at school or home. You can access the program by using Launchpad.
In Launchpad, Click on Renaissance.
Then Click on Accelerated Reader
Type in the title of the book the student is quizzing on. Then Click Start Quiz.
|
Grade K-2 students can earn brag tags for completing badges in the program and for 9 passed quizzes on their reading range level each quarter.
Grade 3-5 students can earn brag tags for meeting their quarterly goals.
Our library does have several books with an AR quiz (those are the books labeled with a dot sticker on the side of the library book).
SSYRA Brag Tags are also passed out to those who take and pass an SSYRA book.

Encouraging all students to sign up for their own cards is a vital step toward academic achievement and lifelong learning! Help students get their own free library card using the registration link: |
With a library card, students can gain access to more eBooks, book delivering to your door and so much more.

At school, we will be going over how to take care of devices. If you could also review with your child the following procedures, it will help us take care of the devices for many years.
- Hold the device with both hands.
- Never bend the laptop screen back too far.
- Never poke the screen with a pencil.
- Never yank headphones from the device. Hold onto the prong and gently pull out of the jack.
- Never eat or drink near your device.
- Keep your device in the center of your desk/table.
- Keep your device off the floor.
If a key pops off, do not throw it away. Give it to your teacher. Someone at school might be able to pop it back on again.
